Different forms of remedies and how to use them

The different forms of remedies used in homeopathy include:

1.    Tincture: A tincture refers to an alcohol based derivative taken from a fresh herb or other plant material. Tinctures have been used most commonly as an alternative medicine or a supplement in the diet. Tinctures use the following substances – alcohol, vinegar or glycerin. These substances are responsible for adding stability to the chemicals present in plants and herbs. Tinctures are commonly used by people practicing homeopathy since the process of preparing the tincture requires only a few ingredients and the process is easy. A person only needs to take a jar and put the herbs in it. Pour in alcohol which is enough to completely cover the herbs. Place the jar in a cool, dark place for a few weeks. Remember to shake the jar once daily. The essence of the herbs will be extracted by alcohol and aftera few weeks, your medicine will be ready.

2.    Topical formulations: These would usually include homeopathic gels, lotions, creams and ointments. These can be applied topically for a quick refreshing, cooling sensation without resulting in any oily residue. They are applied at the area which is affected.
